I wish I drank alcohol...

... because this is how I'm feeling today. *sigh* "This too shall pass," isn't that the saying?

Optimism?

I've tried to stay optimistic about finding that special someone. Well, all of that optimism that I've been keeping with me has faded away.

Another weekend is half over, another weekend spent alone.

I'm going to be 39 in 3 short months, and I don't have so much as a date in sight, let alone a good one! I have had dates here and there over the past several months, but nothing that has turned into a second. To get to a second date apparently is a miracle for me, and hasn't happened since my last relationship, which sadly came to an end about 20 months ago. That means, I haven't had a second date in nearly 3 years!

OK, I'm in a funk today so I probably shouldn't be blogging. To close...

Being single at 38 sucks ass!!!!

Yahoo IM Hell

I've been working on positive thinking lately... that there is still hope for me, that I will find love again. That one day... someone, somewhere... will come along and fall in love with me, and me with him, and we'll eventually get married. Then, here on a Saturday night when I'm on-line, (minding my own business), along comes a "random," unsolicited Instant Message from some guy who reminds me that it may not happen at all for me. I may never get married. GRRRRRRRRR!

xxxxxxx2323x: You ever been married?
Amy: Nope
xxxxxxx2323x: Well, good for you.
Amy: lol
Amy: Depends how you look at it.
xxxxxxx2323x: Depends on who you are.
Amy: Someday... I hope.
xxxxxxx2323x: It'd be tough, at your advanced age.

Did he really just say, "It'd be tough, at your advanced age??" Oh.... my.... God!!

Then, after silence on my part, he follows up with:

xxxxxxx2323x: Not impossible, but tough.

Thanks a lot, crap-weasel! At least I'm not out "trolling profiles" on Yahoo like your loser ass!

Purple Tulips...

Make me smile!

Gwen's Tumor Removal Surgery - 4/14/06

My dearest rattie-girl Gwen had to have a Mammary Tumor removed yesterday. It came out of nowhere... suddenly there was a grape-size lump just behind and under her right front leg.

I knew what it was, instantly, so I acted quickly. I found it on Tues., and had the surgery scheduled for Friday... the first opening.

Gosh, how scared I was. When they operate on rats, they cannot use all the fancy monitoring equipment that they use on the other animals (namely dogs and cats), due to the small size of the rats. So, when it comes to the anethesia, it all lies on the shoulders of the Anesthetician. They have to constantly be looking under the sterile draping surrounding the area for surgery... making sure the little one is still breathing, heart's beating OK, etc. I was frightened to leave the life of my Gwen in the hands of others, but I had to have this tumor removed. Without the surgery, the tumor would keep growing and growing.

The surgery took about 45 minutes, and she was then brought out to me in the hands of the Dr., an awake yet groggy Gwen. She was alive!!! I took her to work with me for the remainder of the day, since she needed to be monitored constantly. Poor little thing. :(

For the next week, she has to be separated from her three cagemates / buddies. That's so sad. Maybe in a couple of days they can have some LIGHT playtime together... I'll have to see how the incision is healing, and if she's been resting enough. In the meantime, I'll spoil her more than she already is!

Yet Another Great Bumper Sticker

Tonight, on my way to dinner with our Administrative Support Team, I saw this bumper sticker (see picture) on the back of a car parked in downtown Boulder. It had many stickers, another which I was rather fond of as well. The latter one said something to the effect of, "I'll see you in hell, I'll be the one driving the bus." The "I love my vagina" one was particularly of note, however. haha

I still think the window sticker that I had on Barney (my car) for about 5 years or so was the best. Over those years, that sticker provoked several people to get out of their cars at red lights, walk up from behind my car, and tell me how offensive it was, etc. I found this to be too funny to ever even consider taking it off. But, I did outgrow it, EVENTUALLY. Maybe I liked it so much, and didn't find it offensive... because... there was some truth to it? "Skinny Little Bitch," it said. Gosh I miss that sticker! ;)

Yeeeeeeee Hawwww!

Two words... BRAD PAISLEY!

So, this morning I purchased tickets to see Brad Paisley in concert on June 23rd. Am I just a little bit excited? HELL YEAH I AM!!

Our tickets are up close enough that I'll be able to actually see him which will make the show even better than most. (I'm glad I was on the ball when they went on sale!)

My impatience has already started to kick in. haha June seems like it's so far away, but I'll have to chill out and wait. I have all his CDs and they will be played many-a-time between now and then. I'll be ready to sing and dance to all his songs and probably annoy everyone around me.

Will he wear a white "wife-beater" for the show here? I certainly hope so... can't get much better than that! (Yes, I'm a sucker for an attractive man in a "wife-beater." *sigh*) Geez it's hard to believe I'm 38! haha

Stressed!!!

Work has been so insanely busy for several weeks now, and my stress level is at an all-time high. Work has always been on the busy side, no time to just sit around, but this is completely different. I'm physically and mentally beat by the time I leave at 5, but I'm continuing to use my learned stress relief techniques, and keeping my head (and wits) about me. I may FEEL like breaking something, but I won't. :) (See picture...)

Maybe, just maybe... someday... my workload will be back to it's normal, chaotic pace... rather than this "new and improved" version. If not... I'll continue to be my happy self and deal!

*deep breaths* And... off I go.

WORLD RAT DAY!!!

Hooray! Today is World Rat Day!
My ratties had a special day today, in honor of World Rat Day. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did. =D What wonderful and amazing "furkids" I have in them! Thanks for always making me smile... Gwen, Abby, Ripley, Li'l Man, CareBear, and Peanut! (RIP George and Chancey-Boy.)

Do You Eat Meat?

I consider myself to be a semi-vegetarian. I don't eat red meat (except for my freakish once-every-several-months craving for a Big Mac), fish, or pork... I don't drink cow's milk, eat yogurt, or eat eggs... but I do eat cheese, chicken, and sometimes turkey (mostly of the ground variety, as a ground beef substitute). I decided to continue to eat chicken, mostly because I don't cook and I needed a way to get protein... and it's easy to come by without cooking at home.

I haven't felt great about this "choice" to eat these two types of meat, and after watching the following "video," http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/video.asp?video=meet_your_meat&Player=wm&speed=_low, I am in tears... sick to my stomach... and have decided that I'm going to have to find something else to eat for protein in my main courses. I can no longer eat chicken or turkey. NO MORE MEAT AT ALL!

I am so disgusted and this lump in my throat is so large, I may skip dinner altogether tonight.

Pornified?

I lifted this fun little thing from Avatar. Naked letters... which I find very interesting! Almost artsy... (and I'm FAR from artsy).
